SUMMER ART CAMP IN THE SUMMER OF 2010, 2011, 2012
This summer, the Tuscarora Wildlife Education Project (TWEP) was able to accommodate an art education workshop for elementary and middle school students. The workshops were supported by the Mercersburg Council for the Arts (MCFA) during two weeks in July. Erin Gillespie, Dawn Beaumont and Brittany Martin were the certified art teachers teaching the art classes. Students worked with many art mediums including clay, oil pastels, and cut-paper collage to create a large collection of projects to take home. The importance of recycling was stressed through many different projects. Students were also able focus on the environment and culture of other ecosystems throughout the world. Nature walks, sketching exotic animals from life, and interacting with all the exciting artifacts available in the Charles Brightbill Environmental Center helped keep kids energized and eager to learn and create incredible works of art!
